会议背景

由市委宣传部主办,市委网信办、市文旅局、市文物局、冬奥组委文化活动部、延庆区政府、北京建筑大学承办,长城沿线六区相关部门参与协办的2020年北京长城文化节,是首次全市层面举办的长城文化节。本次文化节于8月8日启动,至10月7日闭幕,包括多场长城文化学术研讨、长城文化主题展览、文旅推广公共参与、长城文化产品创意活动等4大板块的22项活动,旨在不断深化对长城历史文化内涵的阐释,推动长城保护管理政策的完善,增强公众对长城历史价值、当代价值的理解和认识。

作为主要活动版块之一,由北京建筑大学、北京市文物局联合主办,北京未来城市设计高精尖创新中心、北京建筑大学建筑与城市规划学院、北京长城文化研究院、英国纽卡斯尔大学历史,古典和考古学院联合承办的“哈德良长城与中国长城展示及阐释线上学术会议”计划将于2020年10月5日举行。依托2018年、2019年中英双方连续两年举办"双墙对话"积累的丰硕成果,本次会议以长城作为一条文明纽带,继续围绕长城保护、管理、利用、社会志愿者等研究和实践成果进行对话与交流,将中英两国文博事业联结一堂,共话文物保护传承和文明交流互鉴,具有重要意义。

Background

The 2020 Beijing Great Wall Cultural Festival is the first city-level Great Wall Cultural Festival hosted by the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee. This event is being chiefly organized by the Information Office of the municipal Party committee, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing Municipal Administration of Culture Heritage, the Cultural events department of Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the Yanqing District People's Government of Beijing Municipality and the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Co-organizers are the relevant departments of the six districts along the Great Wall. From August 8 to October 7, 2020, this forthcoming event includes 22 events in four sections: academic seminars on Great Wall culture, thematic exhibitions on Great Wall Culture, Public Participation in cultural and tourism promotion, and creative activities on cultural products of the Great Wall.

The aim is to deepen the interpretation of the Great Wall's historical and cultural connotation, promote the protection and management policy of the Great Wall, and enhance the public's understanding of the value of historical and contemporary of the Great Wall. As one of the main event sections, Hadrian's Wall and the Great Wall of China presentation and interpretation webinar is scheduled to open on October 5, 2020. Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Beijing Municipal Administration of Culture Heritage host the event. The co-organizers include Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Future Urban Design, School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Beijing Great Wall Culture Institute, School of History, Classics, & Archaeology, Newcastle University.

Based on the fruitful results of the ‘Wall to Wall Collaboration' held between China and Britain in 2018 and 2019, the Great Wall will serve as a civilized bond at this meeting. It is significant to continue the dialogue on the research and practical achievements in the conservation, management, utilization and social volunteer work of the Great Wall, to link up the cultural heritage and museology between China and the United Kingdom.
